The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Ikechukwu Dozie, has met with the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, over growing security concerns affecting students and the university community.

The meeting, held at the police command headquarters, followed the killing of one FUTO student and the abduction of two others. The university management called for continued police support and closer cooperation to improve security around the institution.
The Commissioner of Police acknowledged security challenges along the Ihiagwa, Eziobodo, Obinze and Nekede areas, including kidnapping and cult-related activities. He said the command had increased security operations in the affected areas and was working with local communities to obtain information that could help prevent crime.
On the two abducted students, CP Bosso said police efforts had been intensified to secure their safe rescue and arrest those responsible. He also directed the Owerri Area Commander, Ihiagwa Divisional Police Officer, and officers from the Vigilance and Anti-Kidnapping units to step up the operation.
The police commissioner expressed sympathy to the family of the student who was killed, as well as the wider FUTO community, while stressing that operational details would remain confidential so as not to compromise the rescue and investigation efforts.
